Male', Maldives – August 6th, 2025 – In a significant advancement for inclusive education in the Maldives, ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ is proud to announce a new partnership with the Ministry of Education. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today by our Vice Rector, Dr. Ali Najeeb, officially integrating the ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ Diploma in Teaching Primary and Special Educational Needs into the government's esteemed national teacher training initiative. This collaboration marks a pivotal moment in our shared commitment to fostering supportive and effective learning environments for all students.

Through this landmark agreement, aspiring educators now have an unparalleled opportunity to pursue this vital qualification without financial burden. The programme is now offered completely free of charge to all enrolled students. Furthermore, to ensure participants can fully dedicate themselves to their studies, the initiative includes the provision of a monthly stipend, offering valuable support throughout the duration of the course. This initiative is a direct investment in building a skilled and passionate workforce of educators dedicated to inclusive practices.

The Diploma in Teaching Primary and Special Educational Needs is a dynamic one-year programme designed to provide a comprehensive foundation for creating inclusive classrooms. The curriculum is structured to equip future teachers with a deep understanding of essential principles in both primary education and special needs instruction. Students will explore critical areas including curriculum design for diverse learners, effective assessment strategies, and teaching methods tailored to the unique requirements of every student. The programme structure includes modules that cover literacy in the primary years, mathematics education, the psychology of education, and theories of inclusive education, ensuring a well-rounded and robust learning experience.

By combining theoretical insights with hands-on experience, such as the mandatory teaching practicum, the diploma empowers graduates to confidently lead and implement inclusive educational practices. Upon completion, graduates will be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of national and international policies on inclusive education, analyze and overcome barriers within schools, and apply effective assessment methods to support students with diverse needs. This collaboration between ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ and the Ministry of Education is more than a partnership; it is a promise to the nation's children to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of students with special educational needs, ensuring they have the expert support they need to thrive.

We encourage all passionate and dedicated individuals to take the first step toward becoming a specialist teacher. This is a unique opportunity to build a rewarding career and make a profound difference in our communities.
