Programme Details

Introduction

The Global Business and Finance LLM engages with innovative learning and teaching strategies, research-led and practice informed teaching with the opportunity for students to develop their critical understanding of the law while engaging with some of the most pressing global issues impacting the world of global business and trade. Students will develop their own analytical skills needed to make reasoned, creative and original judgments regarding the development and practical application of the law in this area. The programme provides students with the core legal knowledge and systematic understanding of the fundamental legal principles and the requisite skills in preparation for employment in legal practice, public sector employment, banking and financial crime investigation and regulation.

General Entry Criteria

  • Completed a Bachelor’s degree at MNQF level 7 or Level 8 in the relevant field.

(Note: Where a candidate’s entry qualification is in a medium other than English, the candidate is required to meet the English Language Requirement of the University).

Upon successful completion of this programme, participants will be able to gain

  • Demonstrate a deep systematic knowledge and understanding of business and finance laws in a global context, including an awareness of contemporary issues and debates within their field of study

  • Apply appropriate legal research methodologies in research and scholarship related to business and financial law in a global setting

  • Generate accurate and creative solutions to complex legal problems in a global business and finance law context

  • Critically evaluate the role and effectiveness of laws in relation to issues affecting the organisation and regulation of business and finance in domestic, regional and international contexts

  • Systematically organise and communicate advanced legal and nonlegal information, using criteria developed for specialist and non-specialist audiences in unpredictably complex legal contexts

  • Evaluate themselves and plan their personal and professional development through reflective practice

  • Take responsibility for themselves as global citizens, exercising ethical decision making and valuing diverse perspectives
