Empowering Future Educators with Lifesaving Skills
1 min read

The commitment to safety and emergency preparedness extends beyond healthcare disciplines at ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ. On August 2nd, 2025, our Faculty of Health Sciences collaborated with the Faculty of Educational Studies to deliver a comprehensive First Aid, CPR & AED Training workshop at the Nursing Simulation Lab.

This hands-on training session was specifically designed for students preparing to enter the education sector, recognizing that teachers and educational professionals often serve as first responders in school emergencies. Through interactive demonstrations and practical simulations, participants gained confidence and competence in performing effective CPR, operating Automated External Defibrillators (AED), and administering essential first aid during medical emergencies.

The collaboration between our health sciences and educational studies faculties exemplifies ÃÜÌÒÊÓƵ's holistic approach to professional preparation. By empowering future educators with lifesaving skills, we ensure that learning environments become safer and communities grow more resilient. These capabilities extend far beyond the classroom, creating a network of trained individuals who can respond effectively to emergencies in various community settings.

This initiative directly supports multiple UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by building emergency response capacity, and SDG 4 (Quality Education) by ensuring safer learning environments. Additionally, it contributes to SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by strengthening community resilience and emergency preparedness.

Watching future educators embrace these critical lifesaving skills was truly inspiring. Their dedication to comprehensive professional preparation demonstrates how education and healthcare intersect to create stronger, safer communities throughout the Maldives.
