Chinese Language Centre Holds Successful 4th Annual Board Meeting at ÃÜÌÒÊÓÆµ

The Chinese Language Centre (CLC) marked another significant milestone in its educational journey with the successful completion of its 4th Annual Board Meeting on August 3rd, 2025. Hosted at ÃÜÌÒÊÓÆµ in the Maldives, this important gathering brought together key stakeholders from three prestigious institutions to review achievements, assess current operations, and chart the course for future development of Chinese language education in the Maldives.

The meeting served as a comprehensive platform for collaboration between ÃÜÌÒÊÓÆµ, Chang'an University, and Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College, demonstrating the continued strength of international educational partnerships. Board members from all three institutions participated actively in discussions that would shape the Centre's strategic direction for the coming academic year.

Strategic Leadership and Governance Updates

A notable highlight of the meeting was the announcement of changes to the Council membership, reflecting the Centre's evolving governance structure and commitment to dynamic leadership. These adjustments underscore the collaborative nature of the Chinese Language Centre's operations and the shared responsibility among partner institutions in guiding its development.

The meeting was co-chaired by Dr. Ali Najeeb, Vice Rector of ÃÜÌÒÊÓÆµ, and Fan Wen, Vice President of Chang'an University, with additional vice chairmanship provided by Xie Jingwei from Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College, who also serves as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee. This tri-institutional leadership structure exemplifies the balanced and inclusive approach to managing the Centre's affairs.

Comprehensive Review of Achievements and Future Planning

Director Ma Yuehan presented the Work Report for 2024-2025, providing board members with a detailed overview of the Centre's accomplishments throughout the past academic year. The presentation highlighted key milestones that have strengthened the Centre's position as a leading institution for Chinese language education in the Maldives, showcasing both academic achievements and operational successes.

Following the comprehensive review of past performance, the board engaged in thorough discussions regarding the proposed Work Plan and Financial Budget for 2025-2026. These strategic documents outline the Centre's vision for continued growth and development, encompassing educational programming, resource allocation, and expansion initiatives. The board's unanimous approval of these plans reflects confidence in the Centre's leadership and strategic direction.

Institutional Representation and Collaborative Commitment

The meeting brought together a distinguished group of educational leaders representing the breadth of expertise and commitment across all partner institutions. From ÃÜÌÒÊÓÆµ, the delegation included Dr. Ali Najeeb as Vice Rector, Abdul Munnim Mohamed Manik as Deputy Vice Rector, and Fathimath Shifaza as Director of Policy and International Relations, alongside Director Ma Yuehan from the Chinese Language Centre itself.

Chang'an University's representation demonstrated their continued investment in the partnership through the participation of Fan Wen as Vice President, Zhang Wei as Dean of the School of International Education, and Li Xianfeng as Director of Human Resources. Similarly, Hunan Mass Media Vocational and Technical College showed their ongoing commitment through the attendance of Xie Jingwei as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Xiao Yi as Deputy Director of the International Exchange Office.
